PMO Methodology Implementation
Implementation of PMO services for a government entity
Our client was a local government entity, the 2nd largest in Australia, with over $400 million in annual capital expenditure budget servicing over a million residents. Projects have significant budgets and require the coordination of multiple departments, vendors, and regulations.
What was the problem?
With so many departments within the city delivering projects, multiple methodologies were being followed, resulting in:
- Different project standards
- Inefficiencies working cross-department
- Multiple delivery methodologies – not one way to work
What we did…
Developed a methodology that enabled both traditional project delivery with Agile project delivery:
- Implementation of new methodology
- Development of supporting templates needed from project initiation to closure.
- Creation of a training package that was used for the methodology rollout but could be leveraged to on-board new project managers
How did it do?
Creating standard processes allowed for repeatable processes for projects within each department and cross-department.
This allowed for increased efficiencies within the project, with clear roles, responsibilities, deliverables and change management processes that aligned to the organization’s culture and overall strategy.
